Becoming a teacher in primary and secondary education
We've been providing initial teacher training for over 150 years, and we're a major provider of newly qualified teachers in the East Midlands.
We offer primary education courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, through our B.Ed and PGCE courses. For both of these initial teacher training courses, we've achieved outstanding Ofsted quality ratings. Find out more.
We also have opportunities for you to gain Qualifed Teacher Status under the school direct teacher training programme. These courses are taught on the job in our partner schools with the support of experienced teachers. You can choose to study:
- PGCE Primary (School Direct) with Qualified Teacher Status
- PGCE Secondary (School Direct) with Qualified Teacher Status
You could also train to be a teacher, trainer or tutor in one of the following areas by studying our Further Education and Skills Sector courses:
- Further Education Colleges (possibly Sixth Form Colleges)
- Adult and community learning
- Work based learning
- Training providers
- Public and uniformed services training
- Prison Service.
