Outstanding Ofsted

I really enjoy the challenges the course brings. It has helped to develop my confidence and have made lots of great friends.

Becoming a teacher in primary and secondary education

We've been providing initial teacher training for over 150 years, and we're a major provider of newly qualified teachers in the East Midlands.

We offer primary education courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, through our B.Ed and PGCE courses. For both of these initial teacher training courses, this year we've achieved outstanding Ofsted quality ratings. Find out more.

We also work closely with schools to offer primary and secondary education courses through a work based route. Read more about our Graduate Teacher Programme which will give you a qualification to become a primary or secondary school teacher.

You could also train to be a teacher, trainer or tutor in one of the following areas by studying our Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector courses:

  • Further Education Colleges (possibly Sixth Form Colleges)
  • Adult and community learning
  • Work based learning
  • Training providers
  • Public and uniformed services training
  • Prison Service.
