About the course
If you're already teaching in the lifelong learning sector and your role involves preparing, planning and assessing, interviewing and guiding students, developing the curriculum, reviewing goals with students and negotiating and agreeing outcomes on a regular basis, this new qualification is idea for you.
You'll develop the knowledge and skills you'll need to meet the Government Standards for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) Status.
You'll examine the theories of teaching, learning and assessment, including the development of subject specific resources and the curriculum. And you'll evaluate these theories by applying them in your own workplace.
You won't have to take any exams - you'll be assessed on your coursework through your written assessments, a personal development journal and a teaching file.
Because this course has been designed to help you to develop your skills as a teacher in the lifelong learning sector, you'll have the opportunity to experience one of the other areas of the lifelong learning sector, so if you work in 14-19 education, you could get some experience in adult and community education, for example.
Your career
You'll already be employed within the sector, but if you successfully complete the course you could move into a course coordinator role, management or gain other kinds of promotion.
