About the course
If you're currently teaching in the lifelong learning sector, but don't have a full teaching role, we've developed this qualification for you.
In your current role, you may lead workshops and one to one sessions or be an NVQ assessor, but you may not have responsibility for preparing, planning and assessing, or interviewing or guiding students.
You'll study this course part time over one semester (15 weeks). You'll examine the theories of teaching, learning and assessment and you'll evaluate their suitability and validity by putting them into practice in your workplace.
You won't have to take any exams - you'll be assessed on your coursework through two 3000 word assessments, a personal development journal and a teaching file.

When you've completed this course you may be given the opportunity to take on extra roles and responsibilities at work. And you can move on to the Professional Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, which leads to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (OTLS) status.
