Maya Cockburn
Maya has always loved dancing and as a child was desperate to go to ballet classes but was sent ballroom dancing instead! Twenty years and three children later she fulfilled her dreams and started contemporary dance classes. She has twenty five years experience as a movement artist and practitioner, has directed creative community projects with learning disabled children and adults, collaborated with other artists in performance work and was founder and director of Nomads differently abled dance company.
She studied Movement Psychotherapy & Authentic Movement in the USA and on returning to England graduated as a registered dance movement psychotherapist in 2002 where she subsequently worked in acute psychiatry and faciltitated personal development workshops in Authentic Movement. More recently Maya has studied Move into Life with Dr. Sandra Reeve and weaves together all her dynamics and principles to bring a sense of alive embodiment to her movement practice in both studio and outdoor environments.
She has worked with JABADAO as a practitioner and trainer since September 2007.
