Early Years Teacher Conference 2015
On Saturday 4 July, more than 80 delegates joined the Early Years Teacher team in their sixth annual conference, Nurturing Creativity – Create, Inspire, Connect.
The event gave all practitioners the opportunity to explore ways of supporting children’s learning and development through creative experiences. Delegates explored some of the many aspects of creativity with an underlying philosophy of nurturing inquisitive and motivated children within the early years.
The keynote speaker was the inspirational Linda Thornton, who opened the conference with a thought provoking insight informed by her passion for nurturing children’s creativity. Linda’s keynote was influenced by her extensive work with the Reggio Emilia philosophy; exploring the nature of their image of the child. Delegates then attended the expert led workshops.
- Create – Through Music Workshop: Jane Parker delivered an energetic and practical workshop exploring children’s musical expression
- Imagine – Through Story Workshop: Through practical fun activities, Sarah Bond explored how to inspire a love of stories, rhymes, poetry and music with children
- Connect – Through Art Workshop: Katy Scotcher delivered an hands-on exploration of the role of transient art in children’s creative expression.
Jenny Boldrin, Early Years Teacher Subject Leader, said: "It is truly inspirational to spend the day with dedicated Early Years practitioners who are committed to providing the best start in life for the children they work with. The energy was contagious and we were thrilled with the feedback from delegates. We look forward to welcoming everyone again next year!"
