The Sacred and the Personal (What Makes Places Special?)
13 February 2013
1.30pm - 3pm in the Multi-Faith Centre at the University of Derby
In collaboration with Derby based film maker James Moore (of 'SpektiFilms'), the musical collective 'leere' have sought to explore in more detail how people come to relate on a personal level to significant places and spaces within their own communities and localities.
This short documentary, made during the summer of 2012, will look further at the distinction made between 'ordinary space' and 'sacred space', and reflect on how a positive experience of space can lead to a renewed sense of purpose and creative energy. The project was partly filmed inside St Katharine's Chapel, Derby Cathedral, and in the Sadlergate area of the city.
In a concise and accessible manner the film shall present some of the ideas and the teachings of the thirteenth century Christian mystic, Meister Eckhart, and will aim to offer interested parties a chance to examine how the Creative Arts, IT and the Media might accurately convey a person's strong sense of unique and meaningful space in the modern world.
There was a discussion with the film maker following the film.
