Is the Black Church in Britain Bewitched by Colonial Christianity?

Public talk by Dr Robert Beckford on the Black Church in Britain.
Dr Robert Beckford is a well-known broadcaster and scholar, known for documentaries such as "Who Wrote the Bible?", "The Secret Family of Jesus", "The Hidden Story of Jesus" and "God Bless You Barack Obama?" His documentaries have aired on Channel 4, BBC 2, BBC4 and Discovery USA.
He is currently Reader in Theology and Religious Studies at Canterbury Christchurch University. With particular research interests in Pentecostalism, Rastafari and black music culture, Dr. Beckford interrogates the intersection(s) between religious experience, cultural expression and political action.
He was a founding member of "Black Theology: An International Journal" and has published many books, among others Jesus is Dread: Black Theology and Black Culture in Britain (1998), Jesus Dub: Culture: Faith and Social Change (2006), Dread and Pentecostal: A Political Theology for the Black Church in Britain (2000), God and the Gangs: Urban Toolkit For Those Who Won't Be Bought Out, Sold Out or Scared Out (2004) and, most recently, Documentary as Exorcism: Resisting the Bewitchment of Colonial Christianity (2012).
