This research cluster intends to explore interdisciplinary uses of the arts in education and society, and to provide a cross-faculty meeting point for staff members interested in the arts and in an exploration of visual culture.

The research interests of the cluster are:

  • Visual culture
  • Visual sociology
  • Visual anthropology
  • The use of the arts to enhance wellbeing
  • The arts and health movement
  • Arts therapies
  • Artists in schools
  • The arts as a support tool
  • Specialist uses of the arts in schools to gain a better understanding of pupil responses and attitudes
  • Visual cultural history
