Dr Anne O'Grady

Lifelong learning is an inclusive term for people of all ages learning in a variety of formal and informal contexts.

This research cluster aims to examine and engage in contemporary discussions of lifelong learning with particular reference to social justice and individual agency. Because it has a focus on educational diversity, cluster members will be encouraged to engage in research that goes beyond 'common sense' assumptions about education and lifelong learning and its role in society locally, nationally and globally.

The LLRC promotes a critical understanding of the role of lifelong learning as a fundamental 'life chance', influencing social, cultural and economic opportunities at all levels, focusing on educational structures, practices and outcomes.

Critical educational debate will be the primary way in which the LLRC members will develop their skills and abilities as academic readers, writers, and researchers.
