Our BA (Hons) Special Education Needs and Disability* course will allow you to explore the barriers to participation, learning, and play. You’ll address the issues surrounding SEND in the areas of education, health, and social care.
Our course offers you the opportunity to:
- develop an in-depth understanding of the theories, policies, and context within SEND
- gain valuable real world experience by undertaking a placement in a range of settings
- explore the areas that interest you by choosing specialist modules such as autism, dyslexia, or severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Where will it take you?
According to a recent survey, 96.9% of Derby graduates were in work or further study within six months of completing a full-time degree.
We’ll prepare you for a career in a hugely rewarding sector, including family liaison advocacy, mentoring, and teaching assistance. You could also progress to postgraduate study in a range of areas, including health, psychological services, and social care. If you want to become a teacher, you could undertake our PGCE after you graduate.
