Mobile Phone Crime - the evolution of technology
Andy Williams, Detective Sergeant in the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit talked about the work, remit, aims, objectives and capabilities of the unit. He explained how and why the unit was formed and he even covered some real case studies and criminal investigations.
The rise of street crime in young people and the way mobile phone technology has evolved over the past few years has led to the creation of the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit.

About Andy Williams
Andy is a Detective Sergeant with 26 years of experience. His operational background is within the covert policing arena, which includes postings to high profile murder investigation teams, murder reviews, intelligence led policing operations, the handling and management of covert human intelligence sources, operation Trident (Met police response to black on black drug and gun related crimes) and more recently he was involved in the setting up of the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit. He is responsible for the supervision and forensic examination of mobile phones within the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit and he is a accredited handset examiner.
Andy has lectured at seminars to local law enforcement teams, national police services, Association of Chief Police Officers Members, inter agency working groups and police consultative groups and the House of Commons Select Committee, as well as foreign law enforcement teams including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Royal Bahamas Police and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
