About the conference
Human trafficking is a global problem of increasing magnitude and sophistication. A major challenge for both governments and law enforcement is to understand and respond effectively to this growing complexity, that affects the lives of millions of people worldwide.
The conference aims to enable better understanding of the problem and create better opportunities to offer solutions to prevent its further spread, while combatting traffickers and alleviating the suffering of their victims.
The International Policing and Justice Institute at the University of Derby (and its partners) seeks to enable practitioners, policy makers and researchers to meet and discuss issues and trends, recent research, innovation advances and in-the-field experiences related to human trafficking.
The conference therefore is expected to help meet its aims by unfolding insightful understanding and offering realistic solutions through, say, case studies or research linked to the lived realities of victims, and law enforcement.
Conference themes include:
- Intelligence, Co-operation and Information Sharing
- Surveillance, Detection and Investigation - Transnational Issues
- Deception, Interception, Detention
- Victim and Witness Care, Forensics and Prosecution
