I was fascinated by the subject of business management
There are a few reasons why I chose the MBA. I wanted to make my CV look attractive to prospective employers and improve my chances of getting a senior management role.
But the main reason was because I really enjoy the subject of business management and am quite fascinated by the social science of it and how people have tried to understand the methodologies and cultures of business.
It brought me academic and practical skills
The Derby MBA improved my knowledge of organisations and their systems a lot and also taught me how to interpret, review and critically analyse different issues discussed within academic literature.
It also taught me useful skills that could be applied directly to my job. Ultimately though, it got me a place on a PhD course at Nottingham University!
A great feeling of pride
Aside from the friendships that you develop whilst on the course the thing I enjoyed the most was writing the dissertation and then getting it professionally bound.
The feeling of pride when you get your finished dissertation back from the book binders was extremely satisfying!
The most challenging aspect was balancing the riguors of a full time job with studying, although it was nothing like the pressure I am under know with my PhD!
