Why choose this course?

  • You'll have a thorough foundation in a range of core business management functions.
  • When you've finished you can top up your HND to a degree with just one more year of full time study, so you can still graduate with your friends.
  • You'll develop your general knowledge of organisations, their management and the global environments in which they operate.
  • We've got friendly and supportive lecturers who will help you throughout the course.
  • The HND is a widely recognised qualification and can lead directly to a business degree.

About the course

The HND course introduces you to the core range of business and management subjects, including human resource management, accounting, marketing, economics, operations and business planning. Not only will you learn about these areas, and how they all integrate and function together, but you'll see and learn how they can be applied to real business situations.

You'll develop an approach that is both questioning and reflective. You'll develop your innovative and entrepreneurial skills, and your personal skills including report writing and presentations, research, individual and group working skills, leadership skills and your self confidence. All of which are vital in any business role.

During the second stage of the HND you'll learn more advanced techniques and have the choice to specialise on one of our four pathways in Enterprise, Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management.

You'll be supported throughout your time here by your personal tutor who will make sure that your learning stays on track and can also help you tailor your studies depending on your career aspirations.

This all means you'll have a wealth of knowledge to take in to your employment, or you can carry on studying and top up your HND to an honours degree in business, marketing, enterprise, finance or HRM.

Your career

On completion of the HND you'll have developed a sound understanding of all business functions and how they integrate and function together.

As well as theory, you will have developed your own skills, from group working and being able to organise and prioritise your workload, to attention to detail and problem solving skills. All will increase your employability in a competitive job market.

You can choose to continue your studies with a top-up degree in business.

What our students say

"The modules I've covered so far have been very interesting and challenging. I especially enjoy taking the modules where I learn new business skills.

I also enjoy the challenge of getting to grips with a subject I've previously struggled with, for me it's marketing, and achieving a higher grade than I expected."
