This information applies to EU students starting their course before September 2012
If you're:
- a full time EU student paying £3,465 a year course fees, and
- your household's income is less than £12,500 per annum
you can receive a bursary of £1,000.
Unfortunately, this money isn't available if you're studying on a health course.
How to apply for the bursary
You apply for the bursary at the same time as you apply to the Student Finance Services European Team in Darlington for a loan to cover tuition fees. You need to submit your EU12N form to apply for bursaries. If you don't receive this form, please call them on (+44) (0) 141 243 3570 to request one.
The EU Team will share this information with us and we'll decide if you qualify to receive the bursary, based on your household income, your tuition fees and your course.
Unfortunately, if you don't agree to allow them to share this information with us, you can't qualify to receive the bursary.
When is the money paid?
Your income related bursary will be paid in 3 instalments as follows:
| December 2012 | 40% |
| March 2013 | 30% (subject to satisfactory progression and engagement in semester 1) |
| October 2013 | 30% (subject to successful completion - final year students to be paid in July) |
