Bursaries 2011/12

You could get up to £1,200 a year from us if you're a UK student

A bursary is an amount of money that we give to students like you every year. It doesn't need to be repaid.

If you're starting in September 2011 or January 2012, you could benefit from either one or both of these generous bursaries.

How and when are these bursaries paid?

Progression Scheme bursary

This bursary is for students who have studied full time at one of our Partner schools or colleges.

This bursary of £200 is paid once you've successfully completed a year.

Students on programmes with NHS bursary funding aren't eligible for the Progression bursary.

A bursary based on income

On top of the Progression Scheme bursary, if you're paying £3,375 tuition fees, you could also receive another university bursary that's based on your household income.

We think that over two thirds of our students will qualify for some support, so please check carefully.

The table below shows how this works:

Household IncomeUniversity Bursary
£0 - £26,137£1,000
£26,138 - £36,592£600

You'll receive your bursary in three instalments.

You can use the money to reduce any of your expenses associated with studying.

Can you receive these bursaries?

You need to:

  • be studying full time on an undergraduate course, and
  • be paying £3,375 a year course fees, and
  • have been living in the UK for the last three years, for reasons other than just education.

If you're from the EU: there are other bursaries you may be able to receive.

Also, some courses aren't eligible for bursaries because they're funded by other bodies (for example, some NHS courses). It's important that you check if your course is funded separately.
