Fees and financial support for undergraduates

Undergraduate course fees for returning students

As you may already know, the Government voted to increase the current annual cap on fees of £3,465, allowing universities to charge from £6,000 to £9,000 a year. This will take place from September 2012 so all new students could be paying up to £9,000 per year for their university degree if their course starts on or after 1 September 2012.

These price plans are for prospective students only (those starting in September 2012) and won't be affecting any current students here at Derby. So, if you're currently enrolled on a course with us, or will be enrolled before 1 September 2012, the changes to tuition fees won't affect you and you'll pay similar to what you've paid in previous years and your fees will only increase by the rate of inflation.

It costs £3,465 a year for all full time undergraduate courses. For some of our courses there may be a small extra cost for things like uniforms, fieldtrips and art materials.

Your fees go towards all the lectures, tutorials, and resources etc that are supplied to you by your programme team, so make sure you get your money's worth by taking advantage of all the time offered to you by your team of lecturers and work towards getting a fantastic qualification you can be proud of.

A year's work placement

Some people choose to do a year's work placement as part of their course (often called a sandwich placement year). As we're committed to giving you employment experience, we only charge you £670 for your year in industry. You won't be able to get a university bursary for that year though.

Got any questions?

Then contact our friendly ALF and Bursary team, they're available Monday-Friday 10am-11am and 1pm-2pm.
