About this course

This course could be perfect for you if you want to develop your knowledge and skills in sports massage, sport injuries, health and sport rehabilitation.

You will have lectures and workshops by experts in sport therapy and physiotherapy. You will also have VTCT training in sports massage therapy and can automatically become a member of the Sports Massage Association.

Our lecturers are at the cutting edge of innovative research and consultancy and the course is crucially underpinned by experiential and reflective learning.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are usually 260-280 UCAS points, of which at least 160 will be from your core A2s (full A levels) or equivalent qualifications such as BTEC Diploma, International Baccalaureate, Scottish Highers etc.

We'll accept up to 100-120 points towards the total from level 3 qualifications such as AS levels (where those AS levels are not taken on to A2 level), the Extended Project or Music qualifications.

We don't accept points from Key Skills Level 3. If you have any questions about what is or isn't accepted, please contact our Admissions team.

We also accept the Access to HE Diploma.

Your points at level 3 will be in addition to 5 GCSEs at grade C or equivalent level 2 qualifications.

The UCAS tariff points are a guide - we'll also consider all the information that you've included in your application. We'll also want to see that you're enthusiastic and motivated to take this course and that you have the potential to benefit from coming to university.

We'll be announcing our part time and international fees for 2013/14 later in the year.

How you will learn

How you'll learn

You will learn through a combination of lectures, practical sessions, clinics, seminars and by studying on your own with the help of your tutor.

You will use the knowledge and skills you've gained to evaluate and analyse many issues and draw conclusions based your own thoughts and research.

How you're assessed

You will be assessed using a variety of methods including written and practical exams, essays, oral and poster presentations, lab reports and computer-aided assessment.

Work placements 

You'll have the chance to work towards professional qualifications such as the VTCT sports massage therapy award during your course - they will look great on your CV. You will have a chance to work regularly in a clinical setting, practising your skills as a therapist with students and members of the local community. You'll get to be a sports massage provider at local and regional events such as 10km runs, football and netball matches and other sporting events.

Careers and employability

You will be able to look at careers in the exercise and fitness industry or in therapeutic work with sports clubs.
