Achieving ISO17025 in your Forensic Area

About this module

The forensics sector has changed significantly with the introduction of new regulatory codes of practice and revised standards in forensic recovery and analysis.

Forensic Focus Limited and the University of Derby are combining their forensics expertise to ensure that you are aware of the changes, understand how they affect your methods and processes and are able to comply with the latest standards.

By the end of each course you will:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the ISO17025, ILAC G19 and the Forensic Regulators Codes of Practice and how these relate to the specific area of forensic recovery/analysis.
  • Understand the role of the Quality Manager and the Technical Manager.
  • Be able to write a quality manual and technical documents for the specific area of forensic recovery/analysis to the quality required by ISO17025.
  • Be able to implement processes to ensure the ongoing improvement, development and management of validated methods, processes, services and staff to satisfy the requirements of ISO17025 with respect to the specific area of forensic recovery/analysis.

Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.

Achieving ISO17025 in DNA and Trace Evidence Recovery

  • 7 and 8 January 2013

Achieving ISO17025 in Finger and other Mark Development Techniques

  • 6 and 7 February 2013
  • 5 and 6 March 2013 or
  • 3 and 4 April 2013

Achieving ISO17025 in Finger and other Mark Identification

  • 8 and 9 May 2013 or
  • 4 and 5 June 2013

The courses are a must for Quality Managers, Technical Managers and a range of roles within the field of Forensics from Laboratory Managers to fingerprint experts and senior CSIs.

Self-funded CPD
