About this course

The postgraduate programme is designed to familiarise you with core concepts and theories, practiced in safe, but real, business and management situations.

You will develop a wide and in-depth knowledge across key managerial disciplines. Through optional modules, you'll get the opportunity to specialise in areas of particular interest to you. Throughout the programme, you will practice and expand key subject area skills, as well as enhancing your business abilities, all of which will benefit you for your future career.

The MA Management begins with the Certificate stage, which is also shared across other management masters programmes so that you build a strong support network of global colleagues with whom to learn. At this stage you will concentrate on the broader contextual aspects of management to develop your knowledge and understanding. The main subjects studied here are sustainable business operations, organisational dynamics, consumer behaviours and marketing, as well as personal development.

At the Diploma stage the focus is on acquiring subject-specific knowledge and developing practical skills.  This stage goes beyond the operational and functional, through the tactical, and works towards a more strategic level of understanding. Focusing on a wider variety of business environments and global contexts, you'll be internationalising your capabilities throughout your studies.

At the MA level you will use analysis to develop additional theoretical perspectives. You'll also enhance your intellectual abilities, deepening your understanding and developing your personal skills, through a greater emphasis on independent learning. Activities are centred on real-world international cases containing market data, analysis and practical and theoretical developments, and you will enjoy a choice of options.

Throughout the programme you will develop an independent studies dissertation. This is a significant piece of work containing your application of management perspectives and your solutions to strategic managerial problems. It is the culmination of your programme and your learning.

The MA Management programme has been developed with the input of a range of widely-respected international companies as well as past students so that you acquire the skills and knowledge employers are looking for in their managers. Our links with local industries also mean that the concepts and theories that you learn are practically applied to current business situations through case studies, company visits, mini projects and assignments. All of this is designed to bring your learning to life and to introduce you to a choice of careers.
