About this course

Studying this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to measure sound insulation and aspects of room acoustics effectively. Of course, accurate interpretation of the measurements you take are crucial, so we'll show you how to interpret your results appropriately and reach sound conclusions. You'll learn all about the key legislation and standards which impact upon building acoustics to ensure that your learning is current, up to date and relevant.

We've developed this course with support from industry. Alcosystems are based in Loughborough and they will provide you with the perfect environment to undertake measurements using state of the art equipment, making this course very practical and skills based. To reflect this, you'll be assessed through both a written paper examination and a practical assessment.

Entry requirements

You don't need any formal qualifications to study this course, but you will need qualifications at GCSE level for the Technical Membership of the Institute of Acoustics.

Fees and finance

Our fees for 2012/13 for UK and EU students are £780 + VAT. You will also need to register with the institute of Acoustics, which currently costs £200. Course fees for 2013/14 will be available in late 2012 - check our website for details
