MSc Applied Petroleum Geoscience (incorporating PG Cert/PG Dip)
Why choose this course?
- You have the option of studying this course at three different levels depending on the qualifications and experience you have; PG Cert, PG Diploma and the full Masters qualification. You can apply for the full masters over one year from June to June, or start with the PG Certificate and see how you get on.
- The PG Cert stage is an intensive 12-week course taught across the summer. It combines academic and practical teaching and will prepare you for a career in the fast paced petroleum industry. And because it's a short course you'll be ready to apply for work in the autumn.
- The PG Diploma stage is a concentrated semester of field work and taught modules to prepare you for employment or for an independent project for the MSc. If you are a full time student you will be in class from late September to early January. Your modules will be taught in blocks of three to four weeks so that part time students can combine work with short study breaks.
- The Masters level qualification will take you to a specialist level of knowledge of the petroleum industry. You can choose to study it either full time at Derby or part time whilst you work so it's flexible to suit you.
- Our tutors bring high academic quality as well as real world experience.
- You will receive advice from careers guidance experts on CV preparation and interview techniques. You will take part in a mock interview which will help you to apply for jobs and kick start your career in the petroleum industry.
