Hall and Woodhouse Ltd
Hall and Woodhouse Ltd are an independent, family company owned and run by the fifth generation of the Woodhouse family. The pub estate has grown to over 250 properties, with plans for future growth and development in the ale market, through market penetration and new product development. Hall & Woodhouse Ltd are striving to be the best supplier in the category and building a business that others aspire to join.
The Challenge
In order to achieve their business objectives, managers within the company needed to assist in realising the strategic for growth. To do this Hall and Woodhouse Ltd wanted to support the appropriate staff by helping them to achieve the Advanced Diploma in Leisure Retail Management.
How
The program was based round a 15 day taught day release program, supporting three management themes:
- Business Planning and Development
- Managing Human Resources
- Competitive Operations Management
Successful completion of this lead to the award of the Advanced Diploma Leisure Retail Management (60 credit points at Level 6 of an undergraduate degree). All materials were delivered on Hall and Woodhouse premises.
The Result
The course was designed to develop skills within the workplace and enable the learner to put theories into practice. The programme was work-based and added real value to both the individual and the company. The programme was designed to add knowledge and skills in the pub retail profession and build confidence in writing reports. Learners also gained skills in problem solving, analysing the workplace and communication.
