Postgraduate Certificate in Developing Leadership Impact
Leadership development programmes often provide a catalyst for change.
Are you ready to grasp the opportunity?
Business is facing a time of transformation and change. Now, more than ever, it's imperative that your leadership team is equipped to deal with today's challenging economic environment.
You may have already identified your future leaders; or you could be in the process of putting your team in place. Whatever stage you're at, these are the people that you feel, with the right support, can lead by example, thrive in a leadership role and help take your organisation forward.
How can you take your team from being good managers to great leaders?
With budgets being squeezed, staff training can be viewed as a 'nice to have' but non-essential expense. But when it comes to your managerial staff, investment in their continued development should be safeguarded wherever possible. They are, after all, at the helm of your organisation and the ones whose skills and experience you're relying on to guide the business and its staff through these uncertain times.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Developing Leadership Impact programme examines current and contemporary leadership theories and concepts that are tailored to meet your organisation's specific needs, so it becomes directly relevant to the issues your organisation is facing.
We will work in partnership with you to meet your requirements and to develop a programme that delivers both immediate and sustained impact, creating a leadership team that can steer your organisation through these challenging times.
Why choose the programme?
- It will orchestrate a shift from the technical or operational manager to a more people-focused leader, reflecting a new leadership culture.
- It will enable your manager to develop more strategic innovative responses to complex situations - a fundamental requirement of a leader in the face of organisational reviews, down-sizing and strategic outsourcing.
- It will create immediate organisational impact as each manager focuses on resolving a specific organisational issue or leadership challenge relevant to their area.
- Guest speakers will share real insights and experiences of leadership and management, offering different viewpoints on the challenges facing organisations. This broadens your managers' thinking and challenges perceived norms.
- It embeds a long term approach to leadership development and behaviour change through the introduction of a co-coaching and action learning programme.
About the programme
Through a series of workshops and masterclasses, your management team will explore leadership concepts and frameworks, refining and developing their own leadership approach both for their own individual development and for their teams.
This evaluation of leadership development is set in the context of a dynamic environment where leading people through change is a fundamental requirement.
All elements of the programme are applied in a significant piece of work - the Leadership Challenge project - which has direct relevance to your organisation.
Focusing on their own area of practice, managers will identify an organisational issue, analyse it, formulate an impact-driven solution and draw conclusions. It encourages sharing of expertise and best practice, thereby achieving leadership development for the individual and significant business impact for the organisation.
The programme includes:
- A consultation process to identify the priority needs for both the organisation and the learner.
- A 360 degree assessment using internationally recognised and benchmarked psychometrics.
- A launch event which sets the scene and establishes group cohesion and commitment to the programme. It also launches the project work and personal learning tasks.
- Interactive workshops sessions that examine contemporary academic theory and models and apply them to your organisation.
- Applied project work focused on organisational impact.
- Personal learning and reflection tasks focused on building individual leadership capability.
- Guest speakers who share their experiences of leadership and management, including in-house speakers to context strategic organisational issues and direction.
- Establishing a co-coaching and action-learning approach so that managers can learn to coach and support each other. This develops coaching skills and further enhances learning, and embeds a long term approach to leadership development.
- Ongoing online learner support, including access to materials and journals.
All workshops are focused on specific organisational needs so your managers can contextualise their learning, critically reflect and review current practices and formulate new and innovative solutions.
Course schedule - the programme usually runs over 10 months. There are fourteen days of face-to-face delivery, which can take place at your organisation premises or at the Enterprise Centre, typically consisting of a one day workshop and a masterclass each month, plus tutorial support as and when required. Additional learning takes place online.
Cohort size - usually 12 to 20.
