Work Based Learning Futures V Conference 2011

Opportunities and Challenges for Work Based Learning and Employer Engagement in a New Era of Higher Education

15 September and 16 September 2011

Key Note Speaker - Peter Honey

60 delegates from universities across the UK, with varying experiences of work based learning and employer engagement, enjoyed a stimulating and thought provoking two day conference at the University of Derby Enterprise Centre.

The main topic of discussion explored how we are to meet the challenges surrounding engaging with employers, in light of the new HE funding arrangements; while keynote speaker, Professor Peter Honey offered a stimulating and entertaining view of learning in the workplace.

At the conference dinner, delegates celebrated the launch of the book Making employer engagement and university partnerships work. One of University of Derby Corporate's own Workforce Development Fellows, Ann Minton co-edited the book, which provides case studies directly from University of Derby Corporate, as well as those from employer partners.
