The perfect programme for me
After graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Business Marketing, I decided to do a professional qualification rather than a masters degree because I wanted to work towards becoming a Chartered Marketer. It's also the key qualification employers in the marketing industry were looking for, and focuses on strategic marketing which is the area I wanted to progress into.
It was a very in-depth and interesting programme
It focused on marketing management and strategic issues that marketers face in the industry and related to real examples which helped me understand this more thoroughly.
I particularly enjoyed the Strategic Marketing in Practice module as it brought together all of the knowledge and skills from all of the other modules and emphasised how they all work alongside each other. This helped me fully understand what was involved in strategic marketing how to review existing strategies and the factors which affect them.
The atmosphere in class was very relaxed
The lecturers were very supportive and always on hand to answer questions or give actual examples to help you understand more. The group worked well together, drawing on everyone's individual experience at work. This helped us all as we got an idea of how other industries work, and what problems people had already faced in their profession.
Its challenging, but the rewards are worth it
I would recommend this course to anyone currently in a marketing role if you want to understand the strategic side of marketing. It's helped me progress in my role and I've become a Chartered Marketer, which wouldn't have been possible without this course.
Putting it all into practice
The knowledge and experience I've gained from my studies have directly benefited me at work. I have more of a holistic view, can spot opportunities better and also gaps in current plans. I base short term decisions on the long term view and feel more confident when making decisions as I have the knowledge to back them up.
