About the course
This course is ideal for:
- Supervisors within the extractives industry who are based in the UK
- Graduate managers who wish to gain extractives knowledge as part of their company development programme
- Suppliers, manufacturers, consultants and planners looking to develop their UK focused industry knowledge.
You'll gain a recognised qualification based on industry best practice, and develop your understanding of Quarry Technology and Blasting, Legislation and Regulation, Methods of Working and Processing.
Integral to all is health, safety and environmental management which centres on UK specific legislation and regulation.
You'll have the opportunity to join our annual five day study tour of a number of quarries, manufacturers and suppliers to the quarrying industry to enhance your knowledge and experience.
The course is studied part time over one academic year. You will need to fit it around your work commitments, so you'll need to be self motivated and be able to set aside around 12 hours per week for study.

- Quarry Blasting
Your career
On completion of this course you'll be ready to advance your career within the extractives industry. If you're a supplier, manufacturer, consultant or planner you'll have developed you industry knowledge base.
How you'll learn
You'll study online, supported by weekend tutorials which are held at the Enterprise Centre, Derby. At the weekend sessions you will join Diploma students and you'll receive dedicated face to face teaching and personal development.
Your course materials are in an interactive electronic format and are released in stages throughout the year. You'll have full online access to our library and other learning resources.
How you're assessed
You'll be assessed throughout the year by a combination of exams and assignments.

You'll have the opportunity to join our annual five day study tour of a number of quarries, manufacturers and suppliers to the quarrying industry to enhance your knowledge and experience.
