Richard John

I'm a part time Workforce Development Fellow, supporting University of Derby Corporate and University of Derby Buxton.

I'm recognised as a leading authority in the field of event management, training and consultancy, and I'm a well-known commentator of all things event related, as a speaker, online and in print.

I'm also a Course Director for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and a guest lecturer on Events Management programmes at universities in the UK and Germany. My articles on all aspects of face to face communication have appeared in more than 50 magazines and I'm a regular columnist in a number of MICE magazines. I'm also international editor of the IPTV stations www.eventsreview.com and www.meetingsreview.com, where my interviews can be seen 24/7.

My presentations have been extremely well-received across the world, with successful assignments which have taken me to mainland Europe, Scandinavia, the USA, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. Within the events industry, I've given major presentations at major industry events in the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Croatia, the USA and the UAE.

I'm also heavily involved in the development of national standards of best practice and have helped scope, develop, refine and implement standards in events, as well as other areas such as management, sales, and marketing. More recently I've been instrumental in assisting the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council in their work to develop international qualifications for event managers.

In my limited spare time, I struggle to learn the guitar, write brilliant unpublished novels, and rebuild classic British sports cars.
