Orla Kelleher
Workforce Development Fellow
In August 2010, I took up the role of Workforce Development Fellow in the Faculty of Business, Computing and Law. In this employer engagement role, I am responsible for design and delivery of innovative and business-focused learning solutions, in association with the faculty academics. This involves working with businesses and academia to see how best higher education can underpin and help resolve challenges currently facing employers and staff in today's climate.
Having qualified as a marine biologist and oceanographer, I made a complete career change in 2002 and set up my own executive training business. I delivered business consultancy, soft skills training and strategy facilitation to a diverse range of organisations in the public and private sectors in Ireland up until I joined University of Derby Corporate as a Business Change Consultant in 2009. My specialist focus was in management/leadership and I designed and delivered leadership and management programmes for over 30 organisations in the public and private sectors, including Volkswagen, Accenture, Irish Space Industry, HSE, Barclay's and Ulster Bank and numerous Government Departments.
Before then, I worked as a former manager and scientist, with extensive practical experience of the public sector in management and organisational change, and over 11 years in research, technology and innovation at national and international level.
