Marketing Derby: Can a brand save a city?

John Forkin is Director of Marketing Derby, a company established to raise the profile of the city and to support its £2 billion investment programme.

In his presentation John explores how cities have adapted branding and strategic marketing techniques to regenerate their city-economies.

He also discusses how successful cities can meet the challenges faced in an increasingly competitive global market.

John graduated in Politics and Government and was later a graduate of the UK Leadership Forum at Oxford University. His passion is the development of cities and he has led urban study tours of Baltimore and was a founder member of the Derby City Partnership
