Liz Burnley - The importance of volunteering

Liz Burnley CBE. DL, has a distinguished record of public service alongside a successful career as an HR manager and consultant for businesses.

From 2006 to 2011 Liz served as the Chief Guide of Girlguiding UK which was the culmination of many years dedicated to the Girlguiding movement. In 2010, Liz was given a CBE in recognition of her major contribution to public service for young people.

Through her work Liz has inspired and made a difference to many girls and young women throughout the UK and abroad.

Liz talks candidly to Vice-Chancellor Professor John Coyne about her life, from growing up in Holbrook, Derbyshire and her formative years in the Guide movement, to eventually becoming International Commissioner for Girlguiding UK and her work with volunteers in the community.
