Case Study
One in five people die within a year of suffering a hip fracture: an alarming statistic, and one which drives Dr Bayly on with a national campaign to try to ensure osteoporosis and falls indicators are included in the Quality outcomes Framework(QOF) of the new GP contract. He's not managed it yet, but he has the ear of politicians, clinicians and other experts and perhaps more importantly, through articles in the press, such as the Daily Mail and other media, the dangers of osteoporosis are getting home to the elderly.
