Learning Beyond Registration

Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.

About this module

This module is has been designed to develop your knowledge of 'working within a differing field of practice' of specialist community public health nursing either health visiting or school nursing.
 
This module provides a vehicle for you to produce a portfolio of evidence of learning whilst in specialist practice supported by a practice teacher to meet the nursing and midwifery proficiencies, whilst working in a differing field of practice. 

Reflective learning on practice throughout the duration of the programme provides maximum opportunities to develop a comprehensive portfolio of evidence. Combined with an ongoing action plan this forms a firm foundation for you to meet your CPD requirements now and in the future.

The module is delivered in a distance/work based learning format. This format involves an introductory lecture that relates to key concepts and theories, and is designed to develop problem solving and reflective skills in the area of specialist community public health nursing practice, followed by work based learning within the practice setting, supported by a practice teacher.

The module is inter-professional and enables a health visitor or school nurse to undertake consolidated practice in the differing field of health visitor or school nurse practice.

There are two placement visits and an additional academic tutorial in order to support achievement of the NMC proficiency standards.
