About the course

The first stage of this course will introduce you to practical skills in construction technology and allow you to develop the best way to learn, interpret data and understand the theories of construction management.

Then you'll be encouraged to challenge accepted ideas and analyse competing theories, with great emphasis on seminars, tutorials and small group study.

During stage three, you'll evolve a deeper knowledge of construction management through Interdisciplinary Professional Practice and Independent Study. There's also an optional placement year between stages two and three, which gives you the opportunity to gain an additional qualification, the Diploma in Professional Practice.

You'll study this course full time, but if you want to top up a foundation degree or HND you already have to a bachelors degree, you can also study stage three subject to bridging requirements being met.

Your career

This course will give you the opportunity to gain a professional status with the Chartered Institute of Building. Our graduates are mainly employed by construction and civil engineering contractors, including all the major companies, for the public sector. Some have also entered the teaching profession, and others undertake further postgraduate study such as our MSc in Construction Project Management.

Once you've completed the course, you'll have every opportunity to pursue an exciting, professional career in construction management, project management, site management or manufacturing.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and on completion of this course, students will be eligible for Membership of the CIOB (MCIOB).

This is a resource intensive course.

UK/EU students

  • Full time: £7,495 (each year)
  • Part time: £935 per module (you usually take 18 of these modules in total).

International students

  • Full time: £9,975 (each year)
