These are some of our stories that have been mentioned in the media
During May 2011 the University of Derby was mentioned in a fantastic 809 items of media coverage. Much of this coverage was achieved proactively through the Press Office through media releases and putting journalists in contact with University experts.
This included 239 print media cuttings, including national and regional newspapers as well as trade and consumer magazines such as Evangelical Times, The Times Educational Supplement, Derbyshire Life and Countryside Magazine. 355 online articles and 12 broadcast items.
The main stories during May were:
- Is Rooney Really A Role Model? Research by University of Derby Education expert Dr Simon Brownhill. This story was covered extensively in print (The Guardian, The Independent, The Sun, The Daily Telegraph and Metro), radio, and online (including 201 online articles on websites the Daily Mirror, Virgin Media Online, MSN UK, the Guardian, and across regional and local online news sites).
- University expert on terrorism Frank Faulkner spoke to the media about the death of Osama Bin Laden, which generated around 270 items of media coverage (including in international media - World News Australia, Kuwait Times and Hindustan Times).
- Students, Communities and Businesses to Benefit from Potential College Merger; story covered in Derby Telegraph, Buxton Advertiser, radio interviews on BBC Radio Derby and High Peak Radio.
- Horror Headliners' Support For 'Scary Studies'; covered on BBC East Midlands Today, in the Daily Star, The Sun and the Derby Telegraph.
