The University of Derby offers you the chance to study our Applied Petroleum Geoscience MSc. This course is a year of intensive study which will prepare you for a career in the petroleum industry.
This course has a high degree of industry involvement meaning that you will benefit from the latest thinking and techniques in the areas of petroleum geology, petroleum techniques and geological and commercial risk.
Your course will start in June 2013 and will run until June 2014 so that you will have full use of the laboratory over the summer to concentrate on your studies.
There are many benefits to this course:
- The first semester combines academic and practical teaching.
- The second semester is a concentrated semester of field work and taught modules to prepare you for employment and for the independent project in the MSc.
- The final semester will take you to a specialist level of knowledge of the petroleum industry.
In addition to your course you will receive support from careers guidance experts on your CV and interview techniques. Our external tutors are also active members within the oil industry which provides you with strong links within the industry. They will also be able to help you find your strengths and prepare yourself for a career in the sector of the industry that suits your skills.
You will also take part in a mock interview which will help you apply for jobs and thus start your career in the petroleum industry.
