International students

New points based system for international students

The UK Border Agency's (UKBA) Points Based System for international students will bring in new changes to the way in which you apply for your visa from 31 March, 2009.

As part of the maintenance check carried out by the British High Commission when reviewing your application for a student visa, you will need to provide evidence that you have sufficient funds for the first year's fee.  You will also need to show that you have approximately £7,000 for living expenses for your first year in Derby.

If the duration of your course is less than 12 months, you will need to prove that you have sufficient funds for your fee plus living expenses of £600 per month.

Application deadlines

To start in September, you will need to apply for your course by 30 June. This allows you enough time for your visa application to be processed by the British High Commission in your home country.

Deposits and discounts

If your application is successful and we offer you a place we will require a 50% deposit of the first year's course fees before a Visa Letter (Certificate of Acceptance of Study) can be issued.

If you pay your fees in full before or at enrolment in September you will receive a £500 discount on your course fees.
