So much to learn....
A degree is the first step to a career. Not everyone will be like Alan Sugar, but everyone has the ability to learn. And learning in an area that interests you will motivate you to achieve your goals whatever they are.
I thought I knew a lot about computers before I started the degree, but I've learnt lots more! The course has taught me how simple pieces of code can be very deadly, how legislation works surrounding certain areas of computing, and how spammers and other e-criminals operate.
About Derby
The university is a great place to make new friends. I've met so many new people from different parts of the world.
The library and computing facilities are excellent - it's a great place to get a degree. The combination of excellent academic and social facilities and friendly staff, mean that you are guided and supported through each and every step of your degree.
It's not just academic learning, it's about my personal development too
During my studies I've learned a lot about myself and about other people. I've learned how to discipline myself and get a task done to meet strict deadlines. When deadlines are looming it's stressful, but just give an extra push and you'll get though it! Going to B block to hand in an assignment always gives me a great feeling of relief!
Helping me in my part time job
I work part time as a Sales Assistant in the Westfield shopping centre in Derby. With working with computers in this job, accuracy is essential. But being accurate can usually take a lot of time.
Now that I've progressed in my course I'm pay much more attention to detail. This sharper mind-set helps me in all aspects of my day-to-day life.
