I am currently on my placement year, working for Anuman Interactive, a small multimedia company, back in France, making iPhone apps. I can now fully appreciate how close to real working conditions the Derby games labs are.

Why Derby?
Derby was the obvious choice for me to study computer games programming, since it offered all the infrastructures and teaching required by the video games industry.
About the course
The second year has been a real turning point in the course. The work is far more challenging, and really gets you thinking hard and professionally. I love it!
Provided you are the creative kind, games programming is always rewarding, when you realise after hours of endless work that you have made something out of virtually nothing.
Group work has been one of the key elements this year, and has created a natural bond between students and tutors as well as some healthy competitive spirit. Our tutors all have a background in the games industry, meaning lectures are always relevant and focused on the industry's standards, undoubtedly giving us an edge over other universities.

Winning the Microsoft Award
I was really surprised to learn I had won the Microsoft award, since studying the course feels more like fun than hard work. I am looking forward to the challenges of my final year.
