What is Learning Through Work?
Learning Through Work is based on the fact that people don't always need to attend college or university to learn, because learning is part of everyday working life. You study mainly through distance learning and take courses which directly help your career.

We have purpose built model making facilities and design studios, high spec computers, free access to the internet and Microsoft products, as well as licences to a wide range of specialised commercial software.

For a Certificate of Achievement at level 4:
You'll take the taught module Introduction to Computer Aided Design (Product Design). Through this, you will learn about Solidworks software, which will enable you to develop 3D modelling of products to produce professional detail engineering drawings and renderings.
You will also take a negotiated work based module. This is where you use the skills you've learned in your own place of work to complete a project within a set timeframe which you'll be assessed on. This usually takes 12 weeks.
For a Certificate of Achievement at level 5:
You'll take the taught module Concept Modelling for Product Design. You will use Pro-Engineer and/or Solidworks software to enhance your solid modelling skills to produce assemblies and assembly and detail engineering drawings.
You will also take a negotiated work based module. This is where you use the skills you've learned in your own place of work to complete a project within a set timeframe which you'll be assessed on. This usually takes 12 weeks.
For the full University Diploma:
You will take these taught modules
- Concept Modelling for Product Design - you will use Pro-Engineer and/or Solidworks software to enhance your solid modelling skills to produce assemblies and assembly and detail engineering drawings.
- Multimedia and Design Visualisation for Architecture and Product Design - to produce professional display and exhibition work you will learn how to export components from Pro-Engineer and/or Solidworks software to Photoshop and 3D Studio Max.
You will also take a negotiated work based module. This is where you use the skills you've learned in your own place of work to complete a project within a set timeframe which you'll be assessed on. This usually takes 12 weeks.

We've therefore decided to keep the academic requirements to a minimum.
To take the University Diploma, generally you should have qualified to the following level: - A level or A2 level
- VCE
- EdExcel ND
any subjects accepted - Recent study of relevant Access/Foundation
- NVQ 3 in a related subject.
