Wildflowers Of Derby - starts 19 April

WEA

Eight sessions on Thursdays, 1.30pm-3.30pm.

Queen's Hall, 125 London Road, Derby.

£53.60 (discounted £48.25) or free, if on specified benefits.

This course concentrates on wildflowers and how to identify them. We will look at the different parts of flowers, find out their function and how to use them to tell different flowers apart. We will also discuss their folklore and role in herbal remedies. The first two sessions are indoors learning about flower parts, and the rest are outdoors on various nature reserves looking at different species and identifying them. Local sites used on this course will include Darley Park, Sinfin Moor Local Nature Reserve, Elvaston Castle and others.

The Workers Educational Association (WEA) is running two wildlife courses in Derby in the April-June term. Local wildlife tutor, Debbie Alston, will be leading these two popular local wildlife courses using Derby nature reserves as an outdoor resource. These courses may be of interest to members of local community groups, volunteers and students.
