Schools BioBlitz 23/24 May
Pupils from Alvaston Community Junior School at Alvaston Park
Mad Science experiment at the Schools BioBlitz 2011 held at the University
10am-2pm.
Primary schools in Derby and Derbyshire are invited to join WildDerby and partners for their annual Schools BioBlitz at:
• Alvaston Park
• Arboretum Park
• Chaddesden Park
• Markeaton Park
• Sinfin Moor Park
This free event provides a day of action packed fun and outdoor science for up to eight classes of schoolchildren at each site. The schoolchildren will search for creatures, discover habitats and learn about biodiversity, recording their findings using photographs, drawings, words and leaves. Looking, finding and recording are the key skills that will be used.
Afterwards, schools will be invited to enter our Schools BioBlitz wall art competition using their wildlife records made during the day's activities. The entries will be judged by the partners on Wednesday 13 June and prizes awarded at a formal presentation at the University of Derby on Friday 29 June.
