Graduate Filmmakers Capture Spirit of St. Osmund's
A film made by two University of Derby Graduates for St Osmund's Church was premiered on Thursday 8 July, to great acclaim.
The film, St Osmund's Church 2010, was produced and directed by Sean Ford and Daniel Romero as part of an education pack designed to spark interest in the church amongst youngsters.
The project came about when Donald Macdonald, the vicar of St Osmund's, approached Peter Walker, Community Relations Officer at the University, and asked for his help in finding new ways to engage with younger people.
Peter put Donald in touch with Tom Craig, Senior Lecturer in Film Theory and History at the University. Tom in turn recommended Sean and Dan, both graduates of the University's BA Film and Video course, who were happy to help.

Premiere
The idea for holding a premiere of the film came from a meeting between Donald and Jean Macdonald from the church and Tom Craig and Peter Walker from the University. Everyone was excited by the quality of the production and Peter suggested holding an event to both launch and celebrate the film.
The premiere was a great success and the film was well recieved by all. Members of St Osmund's congragation were provided with transport to help them attend the event, which served as a fitting tribute to Donald and Jean, soon to retire.
Dr Phil Henry, Director of the Multi Faith Centre, hosted the evening and highlighted the innovative quality of the project and its potential to be used by other places of worship in the future.
Following the screening, Phil also presented gifts to Donald and Jean and wished them well in their retirement.
The DVD and Education Pack will be used in schools to help children learn about church life and hopefully encourage them to come along to St. Osmund's to see what the church can offer them.
