Six Streets first Arts Trail
4 May 2012
The Six Streets neighbourhood group has organised a host of innovative community events over the past few years. This summer they are launching their first Six Streets Arts Trail on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June from 10.00am-4.00pm.
Approximately 40 artists and crafts people including an exciting mixture of painters; textile artists, ceramicists, photographers, film makers and illustrators.
Delicious home made food will be available in the form of 'pop-up' cafes, plus a history trail, children's activities and live music will be performed throughout the weekend.
The trail was inspired by popular events such as the Wirksworth Arts Festival. Artist and crafts people will exhibit creative work in their own homes and those of friends and neighbours.
The event has gained momentum and support from the University of Derby in the form of publicity and partnership and local estate agents Boxall, Brown and Jones have given generous sponsorship. The group, which is run by local residents, is delighted that the Broadway, Baptist Church and local Scout Groups are taking part.
The Six Streets area is just off Kedleston Road and includes White Street, Statham Street, Wheeldon Avenue, Bromley Street, Park Grove and Parkfields Drive.
