Derby Tree Warden Network Group Needs New Members!
13 September 2012
Are you a keen conservationist with a passion for the great outdoors? If so, there's an opportunity to expand your knowledge and get more involved in conservation by becoming a member of the Derby Tree Warden Network.
Set up by volunteers in early 2011 to carry out tree conservation in Derby, the Network has four main aims:
- Locate, survey and record significant trees
- Raise awareness about trees and tree care
- Monitor and protect trees
- Plant and care for trees
The group delivers two tree identification walks each year and has attended the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust's Veteran Tree Seed Propagation Workshops. Recently members carried out tree surveys at Darley, Alvaston and Markeaton parks, and Mickleover Manor, and were involved with a Free Tree Giveaway on Derby's Market Place.
Quarterly indoor meetings are held at the University of Derby; with the next meeting to include their AGM will be held on Monday 3 December at 7pm at Kedleston Road in room W1 from 7.00pm-9.30pm.
The group is always looking for new members, so whether you know a lot about trees or you are a complete beginner, why not get involved? They offer free training and support.
