About this module
Occupational therapists have had a key role within community provision for many years. The full impact of this has often been unrecognised, particularly the range of skills that they can and do bring to service provision.
In many cases they work on their own with limited professional support systems. Because of this, the evidence supporting their practice is often not as accessible as that which supports occupational therapists working within institutional environments.
The number of occupational therapists working in community settings is increasing and there is a need to establish firm and consistent quality services being able to inform their practice based on the evidence available.
