Learning Beyond Registration

Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.

About this module

Building on Fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, this module develops your specialist practice and applied theoretical understanding of a range of human psychological and emotional problems within the context of cognitive behavioural research evidence base.

Its purpose is to equip you with the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours to develop competency to practice as an autonomous cognitive behavioural practitioner.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate appropriate and effective utilisation of the psychotherapeutic relationship, process and supervision with children and adolescents that includes higher order therapeutic awareness of your own and service user's personal assumptions,values and beliefs and how they may influence the service users and psychotherapist's interactions. 
  2. Demonstrate structured and research based cognitive behavioural methods of working with a range of children and adolescents; synthesising and adapting their approcah to meet the individual needs of service users.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to conceptualise with children and adolescents utilising problem specific theories integrated with systemic and holistic approacheswhilst taking into account socio-cultural factors including gender, socio-economic influences and other environmental determinants. 
  4. Demonstrate a critical and analytical approach to the development of self as an autonomus cognitive behavioural psychotherapist. 5. Demonstrate a critical understanding and skills in the application of cognitive behaviooural psychotherapy in diverse clinical populations.
