About this module
This module is designed to enhance your critical understanding of clinical supervision in contemporary health care practice. It covers how this has developed, aims and benefits, the most frequently used theoretical models, reflective practice and learning, barriers to implementation and evaluation of the impact on practice.
These and other issues are discussed in the context of current issues in professional and specialist practice, eg. patient safety and clinical/corporate governance. The sessions include a range of individual and group activities with the emphasis on shared learning and development throughout.
There is a skills based workshop where you can practice reflection and your skills as a supervisor in a supportive environment with peer and tutor feedback.
The assessment requires you to produce a critical evaluation of clinical supervision in professional practice. The precise focus is negotiable to fit with your own interests and experience. There are several different approaches that will enable you to achieve the module learning outcomes irrespective of your previous experience and what is happening with regard to clinical supervision in your workplace.
The assignment and learning activities are useful evidence of reflective learning and development for your ongoing CPD.
