BA (Hons) Marketing and Media Writing joint honours graduate Georgie Lazzari, talks about her experience of the Clearing process at the University of Derby.
While studying for my A-levels I was uncertain that further study at university was for me and so hadn't applied through UCAS like most. I made my decision that I did want to go to university quite late so Clearing was my best option.
Being from Derby and already having two part-time jobs here made the decision to apply to the University of Derby easy for me. I wanted to stay local and study alongside the jobs I already had and Derby offered that flexibility. My friend had started at Derby the year before me and loved it so I wanted that same experience.
The Clearing process at Derby was fantastic! The admissions staff met me in person, guided me through the application process and went over my options with me given my grades and the courses I was interested in. It was near seamless.
My advice to anyone thinking of applying through Clearing is to get in touch with the University of Derby, ask them for their advice and they will definitely help you out as best as they can! Don't be put off thinking it's a last resort or that it's going to be long and complicated.
I now work in the Marketing department at the University of Derby. It's a very varied job and I love it. Put simply - without studying Marketing at Derby I certainly wouldn't have the job I have now.
If you are yet to secure a place at university, or have changed your mind about which course to study or the university you want to attend, Clearing is for you.
