Action for Blind People - national charity with local reach, providing practical help and support to blind and partially sighted people of all ages. Action speaks louder for nearly 30,000 visually impaired people every year, always placing their needs at the heart of everything we do. We support these individuals in many aspects of their lives and help them to find the right services and products they need to live independently. We offer visually impaired people a number of services, including help with finding a job, applying for benefits, housing issues, aids and adaptations, holiday breaks and information on local services. Action works with other expert organisations to draw on a wide range of skills and resources. Our close relationship with RNIB enables us to provide a unique combination of complementary strengths and expertise to help an ever increasing number of people with sight loss.
British Heart Foundation - nation's heart charity and this year we are celebrating 50 years. Our vision is a world where people don't die prematurely from heart disease. We'll achieve this through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease. Over 25,000 people regularly volunteer with the BHF. Our fundraising volunteers out in the community are invaluable to enable us to continue with our life-saving work. To celebrate our 50th anniversary we are recruiting new volunteers and launching even more fundraising groups and branches across the country to raise funds for our Mending Broken Hearts Appeal. At the moment, there's no cure for a broken heart. Once your heart muscle is damaged by a heart attack, it can never fully recover. But there is hope. British Red Cross - Community Based First Aid (CBFA) Everyday First Aid The Red Cross knows that everyone can learn a few simple skills that could help someone if things suddenly went wrong. It doesn't matter how young or old, or how able the person thinks they are, everyone can learn to do something to help an ill or injured person. Everyday First Aid sessions differ from more traditional first aid training. The sessions are a maximum of two hours long and focus on overcoming fears and concerns people may have about delivering first aid as well as teaching them first aid skills which are easy to do, easy to learn and easy to remember. We try to work alongside other organisations such as yours, and tailor our first aid training sessions to your group's specific needs in an inclusive and flexible way. Sessions are free of charge; although if groups wish to make a donation to support the work of the Red Cross, that is most welcome.
British Science Association - Derbyshire Branch - registered charity that exists to advance the public understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering in the UK. Established in 1831, the Association organises major initiatives across the UK, including the annual British Science Festival, National Science and Engineering Week, programmes of regional and local events, and an extensive programme for young people in schools and colleges.
ChildLine East Midlands - the UK's free 24 hour service for children/young people. Volunteers answer calls and online chats about a wide range of problems such as abuse, bullying, family problems, friends' welfare and relationships. ChildLine's aim is to answer every call from every child that needs to talk. We need more volunteers to talk to the children and young people who contact us. The demand is increasing so we need to expand our volunteer numbers.
Children First Derby - registered Charity supporting families in the community who face many challenges in their lives. With the support from a Befriending volunteer the families can be enpowered to make positive changes and move forward.
Comedius - Social Enterprise that began as an offshoot from the success of The Roundabouts Trust UK.. The Roundabouts Trust UK was set up as a self help group to help homeless and ex homeless people to develop new skills to help them move forward in life and to assist them in not only getting out, but staying out of the homeless cycle.
Community Action Derby - registered charity providing support and guidance for voluntary and community groups in and around Derby. Our Volunteer Centre Derby team offers a range of services to people who want to volunteer and for organisations who involve volunteers. This includes developing new opportunities, matching volunteers to opportunities, marketing and promoting volunteering, leading on and sharing good practice with partners in the City.
Community Service Volunteers - Parent Mentoring Project Friendship, advocacy or mentoring support for 1-4 hrs weekly over 6 months The new CSV Parenting Mentoring Project will train and support volunteers to be matched to families in Derby who have been identified as those who could benefit from individual and targeted support in the home and community settings. Through volunteers, support will be given to families in greatest need which will work towards building parents confidence in their ability to handle times of change, challenge or crisis and strengthen their parenting skills by offering friendship, advocacy or mentoring support. Volunteers' tasks will vary but the role generally involves visiting families at home for between 1 - 4 hours, at least once a week, to provide practical and social support to help them to improve their family life. This will be over 6-9 months We are looking for volunteers who are committed to volunteering for at least 6 months from the time that they are matched with a family. CSV will provide training before placements are made. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to be a CSV Parent Mentoring Project volunteer but we are particularly keen to hear from people who live or work in Derby and are parents or carers themselves.
Derby Academy of Performing Arts - local community project offereing Dance Drama and Music to young people aged between 5 and 11 years who would not otherwise be able to afford Dance and drama school fees but benefit grately from the experience of these weekly classes.
Derby Counselling and Therapy Centre - provides affordable, professional counselling to those on a low income
Derby Homes - in April 2002 responsibility for managing council homes in Derby moved from Derby City Council over to Derby Homes, along with over 300 staff from the then Council's Housing Services Department. Derby Homes Limited is an arm's length management organisation - ALMO created by Derby City Council to manage, maintain and improve its council houses and estates. The organisation is non-profit making and it does not pay dividends to any shareholders. It is 100% owned and controlled by Derby City Council. Only the top performing local authorities had the opportunity to become an ALMO. Organisations like Derby Homes were set up in several areas around the country to bring all council homes up to a 'decent standard.' Derby has been able to obtain extra government support to clear a backlog of £92million worth of major repairs and improvement work. This money would never have been available if Derby Homes had not been set up.
Derby Kids Camp - 100% volunteer-run charity committed to providing FREE holidays for Derby's most deserving young children. With public help and the support of approximately 150 volunteers each year, over 300 children benefit from what may be their only opportunity of a holiday this year - enjoying an exciting, fun, free break in the great outdoors! Derby Kids' Camp holidays helps to provide a much needed break, including both week and weekend camps, for disadvantaged children, children who will benefit from social or personal development or to provide a respite period for parents or carers. With all holidays, fundraising and support being undertaken by volunteers, you can be assured that every penny raised goes straight to a child's holiday.
Derby North District Scouts - the Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for young people aged 6-25, promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves
Derbyshire Autism Services Group - Derbyshire Charity which supports parents and carers of children, young people and adults with an Autism Spectrum Condition. We provide fun, diverse and regular activities for young people and adults to take part in, in an accommodating and caring environment. Volunteers are required to support young people on a 1:1 basis 2 or three times a month and to work as part of a team on group activity days and residential weekends spread across the year. Derbyshire Friend (DF) - central character in the local gay community since its launch in 1983. Originally the organisation, set up and run by enthusiastic volunteers from the local gay community, aimed to help other lesbians, gay men and bisexuals come to terms with coming out and meeting other lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. To this day that core aim still hasn't changed. We are also frequently contacted by people who feel that they have difficulties relating to transvestism and transgenderism. A unique feature of DF is its befriending service, whereby callers are able to gain support and friendship from our volunteers. DF is also becoming the central support organisation for most lesbian, gay and bisexual organisations in Derbyshire offering our services in time and resources to other groups.
Derbyshire Learning & Development Consortium- established in 2000 to support Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations across Derbyshire access funding and key information to enable them to develop and deliver high quality learning and development opportunities for their staff, volunteers, clients and learners.
Derbyshire Police and Specials - Recruiting students to develop a crime prevention programme to be deleivered by the students for the students. Derbyshire Police require people to help me who wish to try to reduce the number of crimes that affect students and promote personal safety.
Derbyshire Wildlife Trust - the leading conservation organisation in Derbyshire. The Trust aims to raise awareness of potential threats to wildlife and encourage individuals and organisations to take responsibility for caring for their local environment.
Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site - In December 2001, the Derwent Valley Mills in Derbyshire was inscribed on the World Heritage List. This international designation confirms the outstanding importance of the area as the birthplace of the factory system where in the 18th Century water power was successfully harnessed for textile production. Stretching 15 miles down the river valley from Matlock Bath to Derby, the World Heritage Site contains a fascinating series of historic mill complexes, including some of the world's first 'modern' factories
Diabetes UK - aims to influence healthcare provision and improve services for people with diabetes at a local level, together with raising awareness and funds for diabetes and Diabetes UK. The Midlands region covers a population of approximately 10 million people, two strategic health authorities, 26 primary care trusts, and over 40 NHS trusts. It is also estimated that there is a diabetes population of 455,000. Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and get involved in a wide variety of roles in order to raise awareness of diabetes and our work.
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association - supports volunteers working on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway which runs between Duffield and Wirksworth, Derbyshire, (eight and a half miles). Nearly all of the work on the railway is done by volunteers. Train servicess run at week-ends from April to October and at Christmas. Maintenance and restoration projects continue throughout the year on most days of the week. There are a wide range of opportunities for volunteering involving physical work, dealing with the public, catering, skilled and unskilled. All the skills need to run a business are required and there is work for everyone! Full training will be given where required and regular induction courses are run for new volunteers. Volunteers must be members of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association for insurance purposes. The railway is friendly and welcoming and pleasant environment to work in.
Elevation Networks - youth employment charity that aims to bridge the gap between under-represented groups and industries, helping young people to become more competitive in the labour market place. Our main focal points are: Women; Ethnic minorities; Non-russell group universities; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students; Disabilities. We aim to help students become more competitive by offering: Internship opportunities - e.g. we have a spring internship program which we run with Standard Bank aimed at female students; Networking sessions - our 'access 2' events in a variety of industries such as investment banking, law, fashion and politics; Mentoring schemes (we're currently running schemes with Deloitte and HSBC); Skills workshops (CV/a pplication help, interview help, etc). We aim to inspire, challenge, and positively influence a generation of young people into a belief system that challenges the impossible, overcomes barriers, and provides a gateway for aspirations to become tangible goals.
First Steps Derbyshire - Derbyshire's only eating disorder charity. We support people all over Derbyshire and the surrounding areas who are affected by eating difficulties and disorders; this includes parents, partners and families. The majority of staff and volunteers have personal experience of an eating disorder either as a sufferer or as a parent, carer of friend and can understand the difficulties that eating disorders cause. First Steps Derbyshire offers a friendly and non-judgmental atmosphere for anyone who is having difficulties with food related issues; you don't have to be diagnosed with a particular eating disorder First Steps also goes into schools,colleges and other community areas to raise awareness about eating disorders, challenge the stigmas surrounding the illness and help people to come forward for help.
Frontier - established in 1989 as a non-profit conservation and development NGO dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and building sustainable livelihoods for marginalised communities in the world's poorest countries. Originally focused on scientific and conservation research, today Frontier projects run the gamut of community development, educational, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, humanitarian and research and conservation projects.
Girlguiding Derbyshire - offers a girl only space for members. We encourage diversity and flexibility. The Movement is open to all girls and woman from whatever religious or ethnic background from 5 years old up to 80+ or beyond! It is run at local level entirely by volunteers. It teaches life skills and offers many opportunities for travel and adventure. We can locally place Guiders who want to continue Guiding while at University or help others who would like to work with children whilst studying, giving references as necessary.
Global Education Derby and City Zen - registered charity, established since 1991, aiming to support teachers, youth workers, and other educators increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of global issues and how these impact on our lives. City-Zen is a community based group that organise regular events where they have music, the arts, creative expressive therapies, food and information sharing. At events we ask for donations and all money raised after costs are donated to locally based charities. Over the past 5 years City-Zen has done an incredible job at bringing people together from across the community and is organised entirely through volunteers.
Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire - Spots v Stripes is inspired by the ethos of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and aims to get people of all ages and walks of life rediscovering the spirit of play and light hearted competition. Cadbury in association with Groundwork, has put in place a national network of Spots v Stripes Community Games Ambassadors and is recruiting 2000 volunteers. Together they will bring Spots V Stripes to communities across the nation, including harder to reach and disadvantaged groups, using playing games as a catalyst to help build stronger communities. They will work with all sorts of community organisations including local voluntary organisations, community groups, tenant associations, youth and staff clubs to organise imaginative games events in their areas.
Headway Derby - formed in 1994, a local registered charity for people who have traumatic or acquired brain injuries, and their relatives and carers. We are affiliated to, but independent from, the national charity 'Headway - The Brain Injury Association'. We work with people from Derby city and within a fifteen mile radius, both at Headway House, our Derby based centre, and in the community through our outreach service. Headway Derby is the only organisation in Derby that specialises in providing support to and activities for brain injured people. Headway Derby aims to assist people to move forward in their lives after a brain injury, to regain their confidence and achieve their goals and aspirations. We offer practical and emotional support, and the opportunity for peer interaction. We also provide information and advice about brain injuries and their consequences, both to those directly affected, and by raising local awareness about brain injury and the need for accident prevention.
IT Can Help - delivers free computer help for disabled people to overcome computer problems and benefit from the use of it in their everyday lives. We need volunteers to help disabled people to get started with new software or hardware and with problems arising from existing systems. The most common impairments experienced by IT Can Help clients are hand-arm difficulties or visual impairment. The work can include installation, trouble shooting, helping clients become familiar with a piece of mainstream software, adjusting the accessibility features built into software to meet an individual's requirements or simply getting someone online. This means volunteers visiting disabled people in their own homes, perhaps 2 visits per month, about 3 hours each, on average. You will become part of a community of volunteers exchanging ideas and good practice and there is a local co-ordinator to help.
Jog Derbyshire - countywide network of volunteer led jogging groups encouraging people who do little or no exercise to be more active through walking, jogging and running. Jog Derbyshire is always looking for new volunteers to launch new groups in all areas of Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Sport is the County Sports Partnership tasked with managing the new Sportmakers programme. Sportmakers is aiming to recruit and support 40000 volunteers aged over 16 to complete 10 hours of volunteering in a variety of sports.
Kaya Responsible Travel - volunteering abroad organisation that specialises in providing worthwhile volunteer projects across Central/South America, Africa and Asia Pacific. As well as making a real difference in the developing world, volunteering can act as a great top up to your CV and can provide hands on work experience abroad in a huge number of fields. Whether you are interested in wildlife conservation, teaching, journalism, fashion, health care or I.T- to name a few- we have a wide range of project opportunities to suit your interests and skills. Placement lengths start from 2 weeks up to 6 months, making volunteering a productive alternative for time away from studying or from work.
Kidney Research UK - largest funder of research into kidney disease in the UK.We fund the search for new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat kidney disease; to eradicate pain and suffering and ultimately to find a cure. Our research directly benefits over 3 million of the population who suffer from kidney disease at the moment.Kidney Research UK has some exciting projects currently under research. We recently developed a fingerprick test that researchers can use to test the kidney function of lots of people, quickly and non-intrusively. One day, this could be used by GPs to detect kidney disease early enough to do something about it.
National Trust - Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood is owned and run by the National Trust. There are a range of volunteering roles available including room guides, education volunteers, and costumed interpreters.
Open Centre - since it was established as a charity in 1981 then of thousands of school children have benefited from the services provided by the Open Centre. Predujice comes from fear and fear comes from ignorance. Our aim is to replace ignorance with understanding an fear with welcolme. Social cohesion is a high priority for all public institutions. The Open Centre is not a faith based organsiation it is as it states ` open`. It`s many services included visits to local places of worship and cultural workshops led by our Community Specialists.

Padley Group - founded in 1985 to work with the most deprived and vulnerable people in our city. The people we work with have a range of issues including; homelessness, mental health issues, learning difficulties, drug or alcohol addiction and long term unemployment.
Our Homeless Centre is accessible 365 days of the year. Based in the heart of the city, the centre comprises a ten bed hostel and a day centre where professional help is available to help people move on in their lives.
Our Development Centre is an accredited training unit which delivers therapeutic and expressive arts, woodworking, cooking and a range of vocational skills to people with learning difficulties, autism and mental health issues.
Each year some 40,000 visits are made to the two centres. We are very dependant on donations, fundraising activities and volunteers to enable our vital service provision to continue.
Personal Overseas Development - PoD is a leading non-profit organisation arranging ethical, inspiring and supported volunteering opportunities around the world. We work with long term projects that we know personally and where there is genuine benefit to local communities. Whether it is for 1 week or 6 months, volunteers are needed to help work with disadvantaged children, communities, animals and conservation projects in Belize, Cambodia, Nepal, Peru, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand and Vietnam. We are passionate about giving volunteers of all ages the opportunity to use their energy, enthusiasm and personality where it counts.
Prince's Trust Team - The Prince's Trust Team programme offers young people aged 16-25 a unique opportunity to gain qualifications in an informal setting. With up to 16 young people in any one team, you could achieve qualifications including a Certificate in Personal Development and Contributing to the Community and other life skill qualifications. The Prince's Trust Team programme will provide you with opportunities to develop skills such as leadership, communication and teamwork within a community based setting.
Ryder Cheshire Volunteers - RCV providing opportunities for physically disabled people. For twenty years volunteers have been helping disabled people to take part in leisure and learning activities that increase confidence, self esteem and zest for life. Each person has the freedom to choose their own interest. RCV may arrange for a volunteer to visit them at home or to take them out. Others are helped to independently join a local club or college. We have seen some amazing changes in people who had previously been withdrawn and depressed because of their disability.
Rotary Club of Derby - founded in 1918 by 26 members including the famous printer, Cheney Bemrose. Since that time the club has been busy fund-raising to raise money for its chosen charities both at a local and international level. Locally, the club supports the Rainbows Children's Hospice, Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre and Padley Charity but to name a few. Internationally the club has raised funds for WaterAid and Jaipur Limb. In the club's first year, records show that funds raised for the Red Cross to support soldiers returning from the First World War. So the milestone 90th year (in 2008) was no different and the good work continued. Already the Opera Babes concert held at Derby Cathedral has raised a considerable sum of money which was split between the club's two chosen charities WaterAid and Rainbows Children's Hospice.
Save the Children - world's independent children's charity. We work in over 120 countries and we're helping children in poverty in the UK too. We save children's lives by helping children beat deadly illnesses like pneumonia and diarrhoea. We make sure children get the food they need to survive and grow up healthy. When disaster strikes, we're there saving lives. We fight for children's rights, their right to life, to food and clean water, to education and protection. In 1923, we wrote the world's first declaration on children's rights (now international law) and still campaign across the world to make sure those rights are protected We also help children fulfil their potential in the UK and abroad, helping them get a better life, and the chance to grow up and follow their dreams. Our volunteers are invaluable to us, helping us achieve these goals and reach even more children.
Schools Out Club - reliable Childcare Service open to all children from 3-14 years. We provide childcare before school from 7am and After School Care up to 6pm for local schools and nurseries.Teacher Training Days and Holiday Club available from 7am-6pm with a range of different sessions available to suit your needs. The Holiday Club is open to all children 3-14yrs. there are many fun opportunities during the day giving children many hours of fun and laughter whilst making lots of new good friends. Children get the chance to play with a huge selection of toys and resources plus many more activities available throughout the day including: sports, crafts and cookery, growing projects and outdoor fun, low cost outings, special activities for over 8's and under 8's.
SOVA - our primary aim is to increase the involvement of volunteers in local communities working in community safety, crime reduction and offender rehabilitation It is SOVA's vision that the people of those communities will actively seek to provide access to resources that disadvantaged and socially excluded people may use in developing their own potential in society. SOVA also seeks to provide volunteer support to other people excluded from the main stream of society. SOVA at Derby requires the following volunteers: Community Mentoring to be matched with young people who are at risk of offending or have offended referred to SOVA by Derby City's Youth Offending Service, Family Intervention Project or Anti-social Behaviour Team Appropriate Adults to act for young people aged between 10 and 17 years who are held under arrest at St Mary's Wharf City Police Station when no parent, guardian or other adult carer is available.
Steps for the Future - Performing Arts Acadamy for adults with differences. We have classes in dance, drama and music, and we perform live throughout Derbyshire. We are a very happy, lively group, enthusiastic about the work we are producing, and we care very much for the people who volunteer with us, ensuring they also gain valuable experience and training.
Stonham Housing - housing provider to the homeless, and has a strong ethos for postive outcomes for our clients. The client group vary from youngsters with learning difficulties, to clients direct from prison. Our clients require support to obtain a brighter future and we hope to acheive this by enforcing the strong values laid down by Home group promoting such things as integrity and client focus. Volunteering with Stonham is an opportunity to help people marginalised in society and a chance to enhance current skills and to gain new skills vital for seeking employment.
Strutt's North Mill - an important element of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The historic North Mill on the River Derwent at Belper, is one of the oldest surviving examples of industrialised water-powered cotton spinning mills in the world. The museum relates the evolution of the cotton-spinning processes via original and historically-accurate machinery and shows how innovative the construction of the North Mill was for its time. A tour of the mill provides an insight to the fascinating iron frame-work architecture which paved the way for modern sky-scrapers and shows how its many other important innovations made it remarkable as one of the first industrial buildings of the modern world. The museum also tells the story of the mill workers of Belper and Milford showing how they lived and worked. The museum offers many events, activities and guided walks throughout the year.
Surtal Arts - provide a platform for artistic development of communities in Derby and promote arts and artists from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan by working in partnership with Derby's community groups, education establishments and mainstream arts organizations. We aim to promote integration and understanding, supporting social and community cohesion through festivals, professional concerts, exhibitions, regular Asian dance, music and visual arts workshops for young people at schools and in the community with high deprivation. Surtal offers work placements for university students all the year around in areas such as research to youth and community work, marketing to event management, multimedia to finance. For volunteers age 13-18years Surtal offers a nationally credited programme which count towards university entry. Volunteering within Surtal not only raises awareness of various career opportunities within the arts sector, it also raises awareness of South Asian culture/communities. Currently Surtal is looking for volunteers for 'Festival of Light'.
Team Derby - the University of Derby's sport brand; it is the focal point for the development and delivery of sport at Derby. Team Derby provides students, staff, and members of the public with a world of sporting opportunity, fitness and activity. In 2011 University of Derby and more specifically Team Derby were successful in obtaining funding from the Active Universities Project, a scheme developed to attract more students to University Sport, through the 'Different Degrees' proposal. Team Derby will use the 'Different Degrees' programme to develop a number of new roles in order to give you the Student the best chance of participating in sport during your time at University. As well as playing Sport there are also other chances to get involved with Team Derby including coaching, officiating and other volunteer opportunities to assist with the development of the Different Degrees Programme.
University of Derby Students Union - promote student-led volunteering, with a focus on raisining awareness, campaigning, or volunteering within the local community to help build bridges between residents and students in Derby.
Valley CIDS - charity based in Swanwick Derbyshire that is committed to building and strengthening community in and around Derbyshire. Its aim is to support children and families through outreach work in schools and the wider community. Valley CIDS became a Registered Charity in 2000 and has continued to grow since this date expanding our Childrens and Youth Work Activities, and network of Lighthouse Charity Shops to help support this work. As part of the commitment to our vision to continue to grow and serve the wider community from 2008 we began operating as a Company Limited by Guarantee. We are funded primarily from three sources, income from our Lighthouse Charity Shops, donations from our supporters, and also grant funding for specific projects if and when it becomes available. The charity operates though a growing network of Lighthouse charity shops, and a coffee shop which support two Blend Youth Projects in Ripley and Heanor, childrens work in local schools, breakfast clubs, and after school clubs. Key staff are employed but the majority of the work is carried out through a growing number of volunteers. The charity provides ample opportunities for volunteers to become involved in children's work, youth work, or in one of our charity shops, or coffee shop. Training is provided and any time people can give is very much appreciated.
Voice UK - national charity supporting people with learning disabilities and other vulnerable people who have experience crime or abuse. We also support their families, carers and professional workers. Volunteer for Voice UK by campaigning, helpline positions, buddying people with learning disabilities to events or by taking part in our workshops.
WRVS - an age positive charity. Our volunteers deliver personal and practical support to help older people and we raise awareness of the issues older people face through our campaigns and research. Our aim is to make Britain a great place to grow old. More than 40,000 volunteers enable WRVS to run local services to support older people in communities all across Great Britain. Our services give thousands of older people the opportunity and choice to live the life they want to every day and help them stay independent at home and active in their local community.
YHA - aims to reach out and enhance the lives of everyone particularly young people.We encourage a spirit of adventure and are open to all. We are looking for volunteers to support young people on our summer camps. This would be a very valuable experience for anyone studying to work with young people.
